- Ghana's time standard is Greenwich mean time. The Gold Coast wrote it into its Interpretation Ordinance under British rule. A later Interpretation Act stated that references in an enactment to time are to Greenwich mean time. The current Interpretation Act keeps a section headed Time.

During the Second World War it kept them half an hour ahead through the year. After the war it tried a half-hour shift again, from September to the New Year. Then it abolished daylight saving.
