It checks itself against the server
Most clock pages read your device clock and show you whatever it says. If your device is wrong, the page is wrong, confidently.
This one asks the server for an uncached timestamp, allows for how long the request took, and applies the measured offset to the display. It checks again periodically and when you return to the tab. If your device is off by enough to matter, a warning shows the difference while the clock continues on synchronized time.
That will not give you atomic precision. Any clock in a browser is limited by the round trip to the server, usually well under a second.

The clock starts immediately. There is no sign-in and nothing to accept.
Set the format
Pick 12- or 24-hour time, and turn seconds on or off. The setting stays on this device.
Go full screen
Tap fullscreen. Press Esc, or tap it again, to come back.
Flip clock or digital clock?
They show the same time from the same source. The difference is the display. A flip clock reads better across a room, while a plain digital readout is easier to glance at beside your work.

Yes. The flip is CSS animation, and reduced-motion settings make the digits change without the flip.

Why do the cards show dashes when the page opens?
The page cannot contain your local time in cached HTML. Dashes appear briefly until the browser receives synchronized time.
