Section 36 of the Interpretation Act: s. 36the section of the Interpretation Act headed Time; Section 36 of the Interpretation Act defines standard time in laws as the mean time of Longitude 60° W. In the Act's own words, that is "exactly 4 hours later than Greenwich mean time". Longitude 60° W lies west of Greenwich, so noon there comes after noon in Greenwich.
